Barry O’Connor
FEI Level 3 Coach | International Trainer & Trader
Barry O’Connor is a highly respected Irish FEI Level 3 coach, known for training and trading top-level showjumpers on the international circuit.
Originally from Ireland, Barry began his professional career in Switzerland, working with Olympic medalists Lesley McNaught and Markus Fuchs. After three years, he returned home to establish his own operation focused on producing and trading elite sport horses.
Barry formed a successful partnership with Conor Swail, based out of his home barn in Malahide, Dublin. Together, they developed horses that went on to compete at World Championships and Olympic Games.
He also partnered with Philip McGuane, who spent seven years with Barry before moving to the U.S. to work with Beat Mändli and later Evergate Stables.
Today, Barry’s ongoing collaboration with international rider Jenny Rankin spans Ireland, Europe, and North America, where they continue to train and trade horses at the highest level of the sport.
Jenny Rankin
Jenny is an Irish international showjumper competing at the highest level of the sport, including 5* Grand Prix and Nations Cup events worldwide.
Raised on a farm in Northern Ireland, Jenny developed a strong connection with animals from an early age, with horses quickly becoming her main passion. Like many young Irish riders, she progressed through the pony jumper ranks, making her debut at the Dublin Horse Show at just 10 years old.
After completing her studies, Jenny began her professional career with Richard and Deirdre Bourns. During this time, she represented Ireland at the 2016 Young Rider European Championships and earned top results in national young horse classes at the Dublin Horse Show. A standout moment was receiving the RDS Young Rider Bursary, which allowed her to train with Olympic medalist Jos Lansink in Belgium.
Jenny is also a proud 2018 graduate of the prestigious Rolex Young Riders Academy—an experience that expanded her knowledge of the sport and connected her with many of its leading figures, inspiring her to pursue a career at the top level.
Passionate about developing talented horses and working with great people, Jenny thrives on producing horses from their early careers all the way to 5* competition. With Nations Cup victories in Drammen, Uggerhalne, and Lisbon already to her name, she remains focused on future goals—including competing at major championships on the world stage.
